Fix a Merchant Center misrepresentation suspension before you ask for a review

Safe — read-only ClaudeChatGPTGrok

Goal

Misrepresentation is the suspension Shopify owners complain about most. Google treats it as egregious, and its policy says accounts are only reinstated 'in compelling circumstances'. It also matters more now, because Google AI Mode and Gemini pull products from Merchant Center. So fix everything first and appeal once. Don't open a new account.

Prompt to copy

Act as a strict Google Merchant Center policy reviewer looking at my Shopify store [url], which is registered in [UK / Ireland / country] and ships to [countries]. My Merchant Center business details say: [business name, address, phone, email]. My suspension notice says: [paste it].
I'll paste the visible text of these pages: home page footer, About, Contact, Shipping/Delivery policy, Returns/Refund policy, Terms, Privacy, one best-selling product page, and checkout's delivery options and costs.
Check them against Google's misrepresentation policy and report every problem in this order:
1) Identity: is the business name, address, email and phone on the site, and does it match Merchant Center exactly? Does the site make it clear where you ship from? Is anything vague, like a virtual address or no named business?
2) Total price: are VAT, delivery costs, return postage, restocking fees and customs charges (for non-UK orders) shown before checkout?
3) Delivery and returns: do the delivery times on product pages match the policy and checkout? Do return windows start from delivery? Is it clear who pays for returns?
4) Claims: are there any claims you can't back up ('No.1 in the UK', 'fastest delivery', fake countdown timers, made-up strikethrough prices, unverifiable reviews or trust badges)?
5) Product pages: are the price, stock status and variant options the same as in the feed?
6) Leftovers from a dropshipping template, or placeholder text (lorem ipsum, 'Your Company', default policy templates that mention another country).
For each problem give: Page | What a reviewer would see | Exact fix (British English, using only facts I've given you).
Finish with a one-paragraph appeal note that states what changed, without blaming Google or claiming 'we did nothing wrong'.

Steps

  1. Don't request a review yet, and don't create another Merchant Center account. Linked accounts get suspended too.
  2. Collect the page text and paste it with your Merchant Center business details.
  3. Fix every item on the site and in Merchant Center (Settings › Business info). Wait for the next product sync.
  4. Check that the shipping and returns settings in Merchant Center match your site (see 'Set up Google Merchant Center free listings').
  5. Then request one review with the AI's appeal note, edited to say what you actually changed. Google says account reviews usually take about 7 business days.
